Breakout (London open)
What it is
Mark the range price formed during the quiet Asian session, then trade the break of that range when London opens and volume arrives.
The rules
SetupMark the high and low from about 00:00 to 07:00 London time. Skip days where the range is unusually wide.EntryA buy stop a few pips above the range high and a sell stop below the range low; cancel the other when one fills.StopThe middle or the other side of the range.Target1–2× the range height, or close by the end of the London session.
When it fails
False breakouts: price pokes out of the range, triggers the order, then reverses back inside.
Risk profile
Many small losses from false breaks, offset by strong trending days.
Who it suits
Traders available at the London open who like clear, rule-based entries.
