Copying across platforms: MT5 to cTrader to TradeLocker
In this lesson you'll learn
- What changes when trades move between platforms
- Symbol, volume and stop differences to handle
- How to verify a cross-platform setup
Same trade, different languages
Each platform describes trades a little differently. A cross-platform copier translates between them. Knowing the differences helps you set it up correctly.
What can differ
- Symbol names: XAUUSD, GOLD, XAUUSD.m, XAUUSD+.
- Contract sizes: 1 lot of an index or crypto isn't the same everywhere.
- Minimum and step sizes: 0.01 lot on one broker, 0.1 on another.
- Stop rules: some brokers need stops a minimum distance from the price.
- Account currency: USD, EUR or other, affecting equity-based sizing.
- How SL/TP are stored: on the position, or as separate orders.
Setting it up
- Map symbols for each follower.
- Check contract sizes for indices and crypto, and adjust the sizing rule.
- Use a sizing rule that respects each account's size (equity-proportional or risk %).
Verify
Open a minimum-size test trade on the master, then check each follower: symbol, size, stop loss and take profit. Modify the stop, then close the trade. Every step should appear on every follower within seconds.
Common mistakes
- Assuming symbol names match across brokers.
- Copying indices without checking contract sizes.
- Not testing stop changes, only opens.
How this works when you copy trades
Goldman Copier handles cross-platform details such as TradeLocker's separate SL/TP orders and MetaTrader's bridge, with symbol mapping per follower.
