Prop firm copy trading
Prop firms fund traders who pass a challenge, and many traders run several challenges or funded accounts at once. Copying between them is common, but the rules vary a lot from firm to firm.
What's usually allowed
- Copying your own trades between your own accounts, at the same or different firms.
- Using a trade copier or an EA, if the firm allows automated trading.
What's often banned
- Copying another trader, or signal services: most firms want the trading to be yours.
- Group trading: several people trading identical positions.
- Going over a maximum total allocation across all your accounts at that firm.
- Hedging between accounts (long on one, short on the other).
Staying inside the limits
Set each account's daily loss limit and equity stop in the copier below the firm's own limits, with room to spare. They stop new copies; they don't close open trades, and price gaps can skip past a level.
Before you start
Read the firm's rules page and FAQ, and ask their support in writing if anything is unclear. The rules are theirs, and breaking them can cost you the account.
